The Montserrat Building Society Limited was registered under the Building Societies Ordinance No. 23 of 1965, on April 19th 1966, to provide mortgage financing primarily for Montserratians to build homes in order to enhance their quality of life.

It is a private non-governmental Financial Institution and is not affiliated to any other Building Society outside of Montserrat.  Its income is generated from interest on loans and secured investments.  Loans are secured by a registered first charge on freehold properties and homeowners insurance/life insurance policies.

The Montserrat Building Society Limited has a track record of being the soundest indigenous financial institution on the island and has been a major economic engine since the early eighties.
